About

Meet Rex Smith

Rex is an engaging communicator of God’s Word both as a preacher and teacher. Rex worked as an engineer for about 15 years designing concrete formwork while attending and receiving his B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Design emphasis from Purdue University, Indianapolis Campus. He loves to observe and teach about God’s design in the world around us. On a break from engineering, Rex served at two Not-For-Profits teaching on Cults, World Religions, and Worldviews.

Rex and his family began attending New Palestine Bible Church in 2005. This was a few years into working part time on his M.A. in Christian Studies which he received through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. In 2006 he established a youth group in partnership with another local church and still leads the youth group which is going strong today with teens from 5 local churches in attendance. He has served full time at New Palestine Bible Church as an Associate Pastor and Youth Director since 2009.

Since 2006 he has taught a weekly adult/teen Sunday school class studying Systematic Theology, biblical apologetics, worldviews, cults, and has led Bible studies throughout the Scriptures in a variety of settings. His time as an Associate Pastor under the leading and direction of the Senior Pastor has been invaluable in learning how to care for, interact with, and lovingly shepherd God’s people. He has had the opportunity to preach regularly throughout the years and in 2012 when the Senior Pastor went on Sabbatical he served as the lead pastor for four months.

Rex has a passion for communicating God’s Word and pointing people to Christ. His desire is to preach Christ and Him crucified for the forgiveness of sins!
